Green eggs, ham and cat in the hat at Capt. Strong

About 115 parents and grandparents joined first graders at Capt. Strong
Primary on March 6 to salute Dr. Seuss, the joy of reading and to have
breakfast of, what else?, green eggs and ham, provided by
the Battle Ground Kiwanis, Beaches Restaurant and Mill Creek Pub.

BG Public Schools trying again for levy support

The Battle Ground School Board voted 5-0 Feb. 25 to resubmit to voters a replacement levy to pay for about 22 percent of educational programs, maintenance and operations of the schools. Property owners would not be charged for the new levy until the present levy expires at the end of 2013.

No-school days added; snow make-up day changed

Five no-school days have been added to the present school-year calendar in order for teachers, principals and district administrators to get training in a new performance-evaluation system required by the state Legislature. The change in the calendar was approved by the School Board Monday, Feb. 11. . . . In a related change, the snow make-up day for north-end schools, which were closed on Jan. 15, has been changed from March 29 to Monday, March 4.
