Summer meals program under way at Capt. Strong

Oranges are popular -- and healthful -- components of some summer
lunches at Capt. Strong Primary. These boys are in the A3 Summer Camp,
but the lunch program is open to anyone ages 1 - 18.
The free summer meals program is under way at Captain Strong Primary for any youngsters 1 to 18, this year including breakfasts (10:30 a.m.–11 a.m.) as well as lunches (11:45 a.m.–1 p.m.).
The summer meals program, week days through Aug. 24, is financed by the
U.S. Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Battle Ground
School District and Sodexo Nutrition Services, the school district’s
food-service contractor.
Among those taking advantage of the program are children entering grades
K-5 in the A3 Summer Camp (Action, Adventure, Academics) at Captain
Strong. For information about those week-long camps, see
battlegroundps.org and click on “BG Community Ed.” at right.
