Battle Ground Public Schools is studying enrollment trends so that the district can begin preparing for potential increases. Earlier in 2023, the district worked with FLO Analytics to develop projections for student enrollment through the 2032-33 school year.
FLO Analytics conducted a study by examining historical enrollment and enrollment patterns, as well as population changes, zoning plans, building permits and other variables. Takeaways from the study include:
Projected enrollment in the 2032-33 school year is 13,313 to 15,784 students. Enrollment would likely be around 14,467 students due to steady growth in the area and a rising number of births.
The largest area of growth will be at the primary level, from 4,319 students in the 2022-23 school year to 5,549 students by 2032-33.
Schools in the southern end of the district are projected to see the most growth over the next 10 years. See enrollment forecasts by school on pages 28 and 29 of the report linked below.
Residential construction is projected to be significant compared to other districts. For every 100 single-family homes built, the district will gain approximately 32 students. For every 100 multifamily units, the district will gain about 23 students.
BGPS’ board of directors and district leaders are considering this information as they discuss funding and long-term facilities planning.
