The special meeting/work session began at 4 p.m. and included a discussion of school improvement plans for Prairie High School and River HomeLink.

Regular meeting

The regular meeting began at 6 p.m. and included:

• Agenda approval

• Student voice from Maple Grove Primary, Battle Ground High School and River HomeLink

  • Elizabeth McAleer from Battle Ground High School recited the poem “All Thirst Quenched” by Lois Red Elk. McAleer recently took home the top prize in the school’s Poetry Out Loud competition and will compete at the regional level on Saturday, Jan. 27.

• Employee recognition awards for five staff members

• Committee and board director reports

• Superintendent and staff updates

• Citizens’ comments

• Approval of the consent agenda

• New business—the board voted unanimously to approve the following:

  • New course code for an intensive math class

  • New course code for an English class

  • Policy 2255 regarding alternative learning experience programs

  • Revision of policy 6550 regarding the capitalization threshold for leased and subscription-based information technology arrangements

• Future agenda items and board events
