Special meeting/work session

The special meeting/work session began at 4 p.m. and included a discussion of school improvement plans for Maple Grove Primary and Amboy Middle School.

Regular meeting

The regular meeting began at 6 p.m. and included:

  • Agenda approval

  • Oaths of office for new Directors Terry Tate and Debbie Johnson. Learn about Directors Johnson and Tate. They replaced former Vice President Mark Watrin and Director Andrew Lawhon, whose last meeting was Nov. 27, 2023. 

  • Nomination of directors for board president and vice president. Director Jackie Maddux was reelected board president for 2024. Director Mary Snitily will serve as the board vice president.

  • Student voice from Battle Ground High School and River HomeLink

  • Committee and board director reports

  • Superintendent and staff updates

  • Citizens’ comments

  • Approval of the consent agenda

  • New business—the board voted unanimously to approve the following:

    • New courses for the 2024-25 school year

    • Request for proposal for a public safety distributed antenna system. The funding will pay to enhance operation of the public safety radio system within Battle Ground High School, Daybreak Middle School, Daybreak Primary School and Chief Middle School. These schools were identified after a test found that they had poor signal strength. Battle Ground Public Schools greatly appreciates the partnership and support of the city of Battle Ground, which allocated part of its federal Community Oriented Policing Services grant to improve security in schools within the city limits.
