The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Melissa “Mo” Levine, Prairie High School
Melissa “Mo” Levine consistently offers unwavering support to both students and staff, fostering an environment where educators feel they become better teachers through her reflective inquiries and valuable feedback. Serving as a positive role model, Mo advocates for teaching from the heart rather than relying on past experiences. In the aftermath of the shutdown, Mo stands as a guiding beacon in her department and classroom, navigating challenges with resilience. Her nomination is undoubtedly well-deserved, reflecting her dedication and impact as a source of inspiration during times of uncertainty and recovery.

Chelsea Ward, Family and Community Resource Center
Amidst staff and procedural transitions, Chelsea has dedicated herself tirelessly to offer multifaceted support for district students and families grappling with housing insecurity, financial crises and community and district navigation challenges. Over the past year, she effectively managed the FCRC, a task equivalent to the workload of three individuals. Juggling responsibilities, Chelsea conducted training for all district schools and guided three new staff members within a team of five. Her unwavering determination to establish a successful program and ensure student persistence and achievement reflects a steadfast commitment to BGPS values. Chelsea consistently rises to the occasion, demonstrating resilience precisely when it is most crucial.

Linda Korum, Tukes Valley Middle School
Linda stands out as an exceptionally plucky, attentive and devoted educator, consistently striving to enhance her capabilities for the benefit of all students and the district. Actively participating in youth conferences and embodying a passion for history as a Daughter of the Revolution, she brings the past to life for her students. Serving as an ASB adviser, Linda exemplifies leadership, inclusivity, financial mindfulness, and an understanding of the voting process. Beyond her classroom, she coached the Tukes Valley Middle School SW Washington math team, dedicated to making math enjoyable and accessible for all TVM students. Linda’s commitment extends to fostering civic awareness, conducting mock congressional hearings with her fifth-grade history class to instill a foundation of how our country operates. Her collaborative approach, high-quality instruction, and inclusive environment make Linda a model educator at Tukes Valley Middle School and throughout the district.

Linda Kincaid, Tukes Valley Primary School
Linda radiates positivity, displaying not only enthusiasm for her job, but also genuine care for both students and peers. A beacon of compassion and clarity, she inspires a growth mindset, encouraging students to persist and strive for their best. As a coworker, Linda is kind, thoughtful, and inclusive, sharing ideas and fostering a sense of value and appreciation among colleagues. Her unwavering optimism, combined with hard work and dependability, enhances our school environment. Linda’s patience and skill shine in interactions with students and adults alike, contributing to the overall improvement of the school community. Her impact extends beyond professional duties, making everyone she interacts with aspire to their best selves. Linda’s role as a dedicated reading assistant further underscores her commitment to students and staff, bringing joy and enthusiasm to the learning experience. She is a true treasure and a gift to us all.

Dennis Ager, CAM Academy
Dennis has been instrumental in the opening of CAM, ensuring staff and students have all essentials for success. He meticulously organized classrooms and offices, setting a high standard for excellence. Dennis’s attention to detail and commitment reflect in the well-maintained campus, showcasing his pride and dedication. Thoughtful and encouraging, he uplifts those around him, contributing significantly to the positive atmosphere. Dennis’s impact goes beyond logistics; he is thoughtful and very encouraging to those around him. When you walk onto his campus, you can see the pride he takes in keeping it up.
