The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Glenn Cook, River HomeLink teacher
Mr. Cook is an exceptional teacher whose dedication and passion inspire students to thrive academically and personally. His ability to engage and support all learners creates an environment where students feel valued and motivated to succeed. He is a true asset to the River HomeLink school community.

Cinda Trigueros, teacher at Captain Strong Primary School
Mrs. Cinda Trigueros is an exceptional educator who creates a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, supported and inspired to succeed. Through innovative teaching methods, engaging activities and a focus on building relationships, she creates a dynamic and joyful learning experience for all. Captain Strong is fortunate to have her!

Karen Guenther, teacher at Summit View High School
Karen Guenther has transformed the Open Doors program at Summit View High School, growing it from a small group of students to over 50 in just two years. Her dedication, compassion and tireless efforts have created an environment where struggling students are empowered to succeed, with many achieving their GEDs under her guidance.

Carmen Yadon, teacher at Tukes Valley Middle School
She is an exceptional teacher whose kindness and dedication create a positive and supportive classroom where students thrive. Carmen is a strong advocate for the arts, often getting students involved by assessing themselves against a well-detailed grading rubric during class. She is described as patient and passionate, and leads the after-school arts program at Tukes Valley.

Irene Michaelson, secretary at Glenwood Heights Primary School
Irene's warmth, organization and efficiency make her an invaluable asset to Glenwood. Her cheerful attitude and welcoming smile brighten every day, ensuring everything runs smoothly and creating a positive environment for all. Irene sets the tone for the front office and helps the team handle the nonstop day-to-day traffic that filters through their building. Irene makes Glenwood a better place!
